CLASSICAL LANDSCAPE PAINTING IN OIL” – Wednesdays, 100 pm to 400 pm, Studio A

Members – $20.00, nonmembers per class - $24.00 per class, classes ongoing throughout the year.

Students will learn how value, shapes and edges combine to create soft classical works.  Students paint wet on wet and progress from painting “things” to painting visual concepts, working from photographs, sketches, and memory.  All levels are welcome.

Amelie Rogers, an award winning oil painter, has been exhibiting her work since the age of 17, and was one of 100 students, statewide, juried into “Young Talent in Oklahoma” in the field of painting. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, she exhibited in her first one-person show in 1976, and since then has shown her work in more than 25 shows and galleries from Florida to California.  Most recently, Rogers’ work has been selected to appear in “Best of America Oil Artists Vol. 3″ and “Best of International Oil Artists Vol. 2″.

In addition to her formal education, Rogers has studied in workshops with David Leffel, Sherri McGraw, Mark Daly, Kim English, John Budicin, and Gregg Kreutz.

Rogers’ work emphasizes the same underlying concept of painting that has guided master painters for centuries.  Her classical use of transparent and semi-transparent glazed allows light to pass through the scenes on her canvases, producing a luminosity and depth not possible with the direct opaque method.
