October 11, 2011

Hi all - just a reminder that the Wednesday evening Life Drawing group will resume on Wednesday, October 12 from 600 to 900 pm. The cost is $10.00 per person. The group is moderated by Ron Fisher, and this is a great opportunity to work from a live model.

Also, teacher Kathy Reade will offer a free class on Tuesday, October 18, from 100 to 400 pm, to preview her “Naturescapes” classes. Please let me know if you would like to attend.

Our next judged exhibit will be our annual “Members’ Exhibition” in January of 2012. If you would like to have your work featured on the invitation for the show, please email us a jpeg sized at 300 dpi, approx. 5” x 5”. Designate the file name as your last name and January - e.g., mine would be “MooreJanuary.jpg.”

Frequently Asked Question: Why do we need the images so far in advance?

Answer: We order our invitations well ahead of time to take advantage of shipping discounts. Also, our expert graphic designer (that would be Connie K.) needs time to construct the invitation.

See you all soon - cheers - Robin

Reade1Hi all - just a reminder that our quarterly members meeting will be held at 100 pm on Thursday, October 13. Following a very short business meeting, Don Kennedy will preview his one-day watercolor workshop (October 15 - spaces are still available). Even if you’re not attending the workshop, you’ll find that Don always has interesting things to say!

If time permits, myself and Peter Cerreta will critique any works that you’d like to bring in.
Also, reliable sources report that there will be DOOR PRIZES!

In other news, Kathy Reade will be starting a new class on Tuesday, October 11, from 100 to 400 pm, called “Naturescapes”. Right and below are some images of her work. Kathy teaches because she is drawn to the collaborative process of creating art. She prefers to use materials that are readily available to students, integrating an experimental and intuitive approach to making art that is similar to the methods that she uses in her own studio practice. Using drawing, painting, collage, printing and mixed media, students will explore their interior worlds as a means of creative self-discovery.

I’ve seen Kathy’s portfolio and if I had any spare time (LOL) I would take this class myself.

Also, pastel artist Karen Ann Patton is going to be teaching landscape using pan pastels, starting date to be announced. A color flyer and more info will be coming soon.

Let us know if you are interested in either or both of these classes. - cheers - Robin
