Hi all - we have some exciting news to share with all of you - we’ve received our grant award for the coming year from the Volusia County Cultural Council, in the amount of $11,132.00. This represents a significant increase over the amount we were awarded for the previous year. Given the current economy, we’re taking this as a vote of confidence.

These funds will enable us to continue to offer exhibition and education opportunities for artists of all levels of experience, and to continue to expand our services and programs.

We want to thank all of you for helping us in so many ways - your donations to our Wish List and Awards Sponsorship program, your support of our classes and workshops, your attendance at Art League events, and the outstanding work that you all contribute to our exhibits. ( Every judge from this past year has commented on the high quality of our members’ shows. ) Your participation has most certainly helped to enhance our grant eligibility.

We’re looking forward to a productive and rewarding Fall/Winter season!

Cheers! Robin

Hi all - Just a reminder that delivery for the “Members’ Showcase” exhibit will be this week on Wednesday and Thursday, from 900 am to 400 pm. Some of you have made alternate arrangements, and if anyone else needs to do so, please let me know. All paid members are eligible to exhibit (if you haven’t paid your dues yet, you can bring them to check-in) one or two pieces.

Reminder: Don Kennedy is sponsoring an award for transparent watercolor!

The opening reception is Sunday, October 2, from 100 to 400 pm. For our newer members, we always look favorably on contributions to the “goodie” table, either finger foods or beverages. The awards presentation will start at 200 pm.

Thanks to all of our wonderful teachers and workshop presenters for their demo presentations at the “Studio Open House” this past Sunday. Fifteen artists showcased their techniques, and we saw many new faces coming into the Art League. I know I really enjoyed it and was inspired to sign up for Stacy Barter’s Still Life workshop!

In addition to our 2011/2012 workshops, your energetic staff is working on scheduling for 2012/2013. Some of the instructors we’re talking with are:

  • Tom Weinkle - Plein Aire Pastel - (Tom will be doing a demo at the May 2012 members’ luncheon)
  • Michael Siegel - Still Life/Portraits in Oil
  • R.J. Sullivan - Acrylics, Bright and Bold, Fall of 2012 (we will be scheduling R.J. for a demo in the spring of 2012)
  • Nancy Hamlin-Vogler, Mixed Media 2013
  • Jean Banas - Collage, 2013
  • Lynn Ferris - Watercolor, January of 2013
  • Holly Schenk - Pastel, March of 2013
  • Amanda Wallace - Encaustics, 2013

All for now - see you all soon - cheers - Robin
