GAIL RUSSAKOV WORKSHOP
PICK-UP DATES FOR JANUARY MEMBERS’ SHOW:
Please plan to pick your work from the current exhibit on Wednesday, February 1, or Thursday, February 2, from 900 am to 400 pm. If you have a conflict, please let me know and we will work it out.
CALL FOR IMAGES FOR MARCH INVITATION:
We need images ASAP for the invitation for the March judged themed exhibit, “Music That Changed the World”. Please size your images at approx. 5” x 5”, 300 dpi, and email them to artleague@bellsouth.net. Put your last name and “March” in the file name, e.g., “MooreMarch.jpg.”. Please note: the images are for the invitation only and not required for entry to the show.
INFORMATION FOR THE MARCH JUDGED THEME EXHIBITION:
There will be a mailer coming out for this show, but just to give you a heads-up - the show will be juried and judged, and open to all Florida artists; all media, no size restrictions. Three entries per artists, $20.00 per entry for members, $25.00 per entry for non-members.
The theme, “Music That Changed the World”, is open to wide interpretation - it could also be music that changed YOUR world. Think about music that defined a decade - the 20’s, the 30’s, right up to the present day - whether you loved it or hated it, disco truly defined the 70’s!
Think about music that grabs you and takes you back to a specific time in your life - 1963 - Beatles! - screaming teenage girls! - (oh, come on, you know you did it!) And who amongst us of a certain age didn’t have “Tapestry” in our vinyl collections - actually, I think it was a law…
How many song titles are out there in search of a work of art to go with them? How about the musicians and singers themselves, and their instruments?
One of my students once observed that “abstraction is to art is as jazz is to music“- now that’s something worth exploring.
Let me know if you have any questions - I’d also love to hear your ideas.
NEW TIME AND DATE FOR LIFE/PORTRAIT CLASS:
Starting Tuesday, Feb. 7, Connie Krzyzowski will be teaching Life/Portrait Class from 100 to 400 pm. All levels and media are welcome, and the class will be working from a model and also from photographs. Class fees are $15.00 per class for members, and $18.00 per class for non-members.
GAIL RUSSAKOV WORKSHOP:
We still have openings for the “Fantasy Gardens” workshop on Saturday, January 28, from 900 to 300. Cost is $45.00 for members, $55.00 for non-members. Gail will use a variety of tools and media to create artwork based on floral and organic shapes. This is a great technique for anyone who likes to create original “artsy” note cards. Let me know if you’d like to sign up.
That’s it for now - cheers - Robin
