The Art League is pleased with the response to our efforts to find sponsors for awards for our member shows. The list on the right are the sponsors that have pledged to support this program. The members’ shows where these awards will be presented are: • Annual Art League Members’ Juried Exhibit (January 2008) • “Figurative Speaking: - the Human Form (July 2007 & ‘08) • Members’ Showcase 2007 ( Members’ Showcase 2008) Click here for the flyer concerning the sponsor program. And we still have copies in the foyer if you know of anyone who might be interested in becoming a sponsor. As a sponsor, your contribution will help the Art League (a non-profit organization) to recognize, reward, and encourage our members to continue to grow as artists, both within the League and the community. |

HAROLD GARDE'S STRAPPO WORKSHOPAll of the students in Harold’s workshop were enticed by his demonstration at the Member’s Luncheon in May. He taught a quick monoprint method of painting on glass with Acrylics. He then went into the time consuming and tedious method of layering the work on a glass plate. Harold has a very refined way of applying multiple thin layers of acrylic paint to build up the image and then adding more layers of thin gesso until you are able to remove the image as one piece from the glass. This very unusual way of producing Art leads to some of the most interesting and unique results. |

THE ART LEAGUE OF DAYTONA BEACH has been making “Art” accessible to the residents of Volusia County since the 1940’s. Our building houses two galleries and two studios. This wonderful building and several lots are owned by the League. The land and building were donated by members. Other members have given gifts to help keep us going. Two former members, Mary Frances Elliott and Lorita Adams who passed away a few years ago were kind enough to bequeath sizable sums, which were added to our Endowment.
Our main focus is education and there are classes in all media. Classes are held six days a week and are open to everyone. We have several children’s classes and we also take Art to several institutions on a volunteer basis.
Our Art Exhibitions are changed every month. Each exhibition starts with a reception which is open to the public. The Galleries are open Tuesday - Sunday 1:00-4:00pm.THE ART LEAGUE DEPENDS ON EVERYONE’S SUPPORT!!
ART, ART & MORE ARTJUNE 3, 2007 – The Art League was the scene of Three Art openings! |

"Devastation"The Main Gallery featured three very different Artists whose work carried a central theme, “DEVASTATION.” This theme was played out with the Posterized photographs Clyde Finner takes of deserted equipment from farms and war. Kimberly Willcox’s Sculptures created from recovered storm damaged wood were the center piece of the Exhibit. The large acrylic paintings by Enzo Trapani gave the impression of color exploding over a complementary color field. |
Studio A was the venue for three multi-media artists’ work: Nancy Hagood, Julie Kay Roose and Jan Reeder. Click for scenes from Studio A opening. |

Gallery Sitting: Please help us with sitting the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. This is so important for us to be open these days for the public to visit our shows and of course our "Members' Gallery." Members Gallery: Bring your paintings in (no wider than 42") to be hung in the "Members Gallery." We have been successful in selling paintings from this area, but even if your work doesn't sell, it's a place to show your work. Visitors have often remarked about the work in this gallery, enjoying them sometimes more than the current show in the main galleries. And, we are proud to show off the work of our very talented members. |
FRAMING INFORMATION:Many new members ask about framing so we plan to have a demonstration and workshops soon on this subject. Our more experienced members recommend the following commercial framers: • Tropical Frame & Art Center (20% discount to artists), • Southern Paint gives a 20% discount on art supplies, 239 S.
