Hillary Gross

Hillary has a B.F.A.from Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. She has exhibited her artwork in various galleries, including the Corcoran School of Art, the Center for Arts in Vero Beach, FL, where her work is part of the Center’s permanent collection, and Peninsula Fine Arts Center, New Port News, Virginia, where she has won several awards in juried exhibitions.

Scott Hiestand

Scott’s wire sculptures evolved from a school assignment to make an animal from a continuous piece of wire. The wire process has evolved with experiments in various types of gauges of wire with plaster cloth to cover the piece. Scott is a State of Indiana upland bird stamp contest winner and he also designed the Florida Bass automobile license tag. He has also done prints for the Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited (St. Petersburg Chapter)

Christophe Cardot

Christophe, a native of France, arrived in the United States in 2003 in order to pursue full-time art career. His artwork is often inspired from the French Impressionism and Pointillism. He works primarily with oil pastels. He truly enjoys painting Florida’s landscapes in plein air because he feels there is no better way to capture the hidden colors, revealed by the changing light. His commissions include three recently produced posters for ‘Absente Liquor’ and ‘Pango Rhum’ publicity campaigns.

Click here for photos of Robin and her students at the opening on Sunday, April 1. Both exhibits were well attended and the refreshments reflected the culinary talents and good tastes of the exhibiting artists. We also were delighted with several wonderful dishes from “THE PASTA CAFÉ,” which were donated for the event.

We are proud of our teachers and their students’ work.

"AFRICAN & ARABIAN PERSPECTIVES”

Laura Stewart, Fine Arts Writer for the News-Journal, covered the Exhibition in the Friday, March 30th issue of the “GO! The Arts” section. She wrote, “When she began organizing the show, Connie Krzyzowski began with the complex collages by Cathy Barcroft. The artist lives in both Dubai and Auburn Hills, Mich., And had been at the Art League last year for a collage workshop with Jonathan Talbot.

In her work, Barcroft includes shells, tiny toys, negatives and other exotic and colorful found objects that reflect her experiences in the Middle East. To round out the display, Krzyzowski invited sculptors Kathy O’Meara and Linda Knight to add a three-dimensional presence. They responded with pieces that combine fragments of rusted metal, wire, tiny skeletons, beads and other evocative material.”

“The result is a dynamic ensemble”, said Krzyzowski, President of the Art League and the show’s curator. Click here for photos.

Gallery Sitting: Please help us with sitting the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.  This is so important for us to be open these days for the public to visit our shows and of course our "Members' Gallery."

Members Gallery: Bring your paintings in (no wider than 42") to be hung in the "Members Gallery." We have been successful in selling paintings from this area, but even if your work doesn't sell, it's a place to show your work. Visitors have often remarked about the work in this gallery, enjoying them sometimes more than the current show in the main galleries. And, we are proud to show off the work of our very talented members.
