HistoryA non-profit, admission-free education and exhibition center for the visual arts, the Art League of Daytona Beach is Volusia County's oldest art organization, founded in 1932. Supported by membership dues, donations, grants and endowments, it has grown to become a complex visual facility offering a wide variety of art services. MissionTo promote, encourage and teach the expression and appreciation of the visual arts. ExhibitsArt League members and the public are exposed to the cutting edge of fine art as exhibiting artists present their work in the League gallery.Opening receptions provide the opportunity for socializing and meeting the artists, opening doors to the appreciation and understanding of their art. Classes & WorkshopsEVERYONE can participate in art at the League. Regular classes, workshops, demonstrations and critiques are available for the beginner and the seasoned artist. (Click here for schedule of classes and workshops.) VolunteersWe value our volunteers, and we encourage members to take part in the functioning of the League by joining and actively participating in one of the established committees. ScholarshipsA one-year scholarship to major in art at Daytona Beach Community College is awarded annually to a student from one of the area high schools. Since 1963, 80 deserving seniors have received this scholarship. Summer scholarships to study at the Art League are awarded to selected art students from area high schools. LibraryArt videos are available for viewing in the Harris Gallery. Art books and periodicals are also available. |
