Students will learn to use a variety of materials to create patterned washi and block printing papers, which will be used to create a 5” x 5” collaged canvas, adding a touch of color.
“Designing With Color and Pattern” with Renee Lewis
Saturday, June 16, 900 am to 400 pm; members – $95.00, nonmembers – $105.00, includes materials. Instructor Renee Lewis will help you to explore the concepts of pattern and repetition, and the delightful results when a simple shape is repeated. Working with a combination of paint, oil crayons, color pencils, pastels, simple shapes, found objects and more – students will create their own piece of designer wrapping paper, hand painted canvas tote bag and more…
“Fun With YUPO Paper” with Sharon LaDue and Elaine Vice
Monday, July 9, 900 am to 400 pm; members $95.00, nonmembers $105.00, includes some supplies. Preregistration required. YUPO paper is a synthetic product with a nonporous surface, that accepts different media in unique ways, allowing artists to create a variety of effects. Sharon will show you how to monoprint with YUPO paper and acrylic paint, and ways to use the prints to create collage and mixed media art. Elaine will do a “paint-along” project to show you how to use watercolor on YUPO paper.
“COLLAGE PLUS” with Joyce McAdams
Monday, August 6, from 900 am to 400 pm; members – $95.00, nonmembers, $105.00 includes most supplies. Preregistration required. Joyce will show you how to use a variety of materials and techniques to create your own collage. Each student will take home a matted work of art.
“Make a Mess and find Pareidolia” with Carson Kapp
Sunday, August 12, 100 pm to 400 pm, and Monday, August 13, 900 am to 400 pm; members $125.00, nonmembers $135.00, fee includes canvas and canvas pad. Preregistration required. Carson will show you how to make a mess, applying the paint quickly, manipulate the paint, then let it dry. Next you’ll find the pareidolia in your painting. Pareidolia is the phenomena of discovering faces, figures , and forms in patterns; as opposed to where one normally sees faces, figures, and forms. The final step is to refine the composition, the pareidolia and execute.
