Workshop limited to 12 students.
Join Alan in this workshop to learn how to interpret and recreate realistic coastal landscapes in watercolor such as sand dunes, sea grasses, sunsets, etc. Students will study the technique of utiliizing white, the most difficult concept to use within the medium of watercolor. Using different watercolor techniques and methods to create a beach composition, students will also learn how to paint from back to front and how to utilize colors to specifically creating light and shadow. All skill levels welcome! Bring a bagged lunch.

Registration and payment in full for the Florida Landscapes & Coastal Scenes in Watercolor Workshop will be required by May 13th. Students may register and pay online through the Art League website. Alan Shuptrine, a nationally renowned American watercolor artist and master craftsman, is known for his detailed paintings and has emerged as a leading practitioner in several artistic disciplines. Among them are: watercolor, the centuries-old art of water gilding, wood carving, sgrafitto, and antique restorations. Sought for his mastery in designing and creating one-of-a-kind gold leaf art frames, he is equally known for his mastery in realistic drybrush watercolors. Shuptrine’s work, like that of his father (Hubert Shuptrine 1936-2006) is collected by our nation’s museums, galleries, private art collectors and corporate collections.
