Class Description

Elevate your artwork and improve sales with custom professional matting and mounting techniques! In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to beautifully present and protect your art for shows, galleries, exhibitions, or personal enjoyment. Whether you're a water color, sketch artist or photographer this class will give you the essential skills to take your presentation to the next level.

In this class, you’ll learn:

Techniques for cutting mats with clean, crisp lines
How to mat your non-standard sized artwork to fit standard sized Frames.

Selling your artwork matted but without frames (Just the thing for small pieces).

Proper archival mounting methods to preserve your work
Tips for framing and presenting your art with a professional finish

How to use hand cut mats to size your artwork for framing How to cut non-standard mats
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

No prior experience needed—Day one you will learn about tools, materials and cut a sample mat.  Day two just bring your artwork sized from 5x7 to 14x18 and you will cut and mount a simple mat to enhance its visual impact. All tools and matting materials will be provided, and you'll leave with a finished, piece ready to frame (you may bring your own frame as long as it is 16x20 or smaller). There will be 3 workstations with current tools and materials available for your use and a forth workstation setup with my 1983 old school system.

Perfect for: Watercolor, sketch artists, photographers, crafters, students, and anyone interested in art presentation and preservation.

This workshop uses razor sharp cutting tools and blades so students must be 18 years or older to participate.

Supplies students are to bring:

Bring your artwork smaller than 16x20 and a desire to enhance its visual impact. All tools and matting materials will be provided, and you'll leave with a finished, piece ready to frame (you may bring your own frame as long as it is 16x20 or smaller)
