Meet the Artist
“I am a story teller. I tell stories with my paintings of places I have been and things I have seen. I believe that a painting should not only tell a story, but should have a story behind it. All my paintings do.”
Tom Jones
Tom began painting at an early age and has had many years of study, some with well-known artist. Two of Tom’s favorite western artists are Thomas Moran and Charles M. Russell.
Tom is a guest teacher at Savannah College of Arts and Design (SCAD) twice annually.
Tom is a resident of Central Florida, and he has been commissioned by government agencies, corporations, environmental groups, clubs and private collectors. In answer to popular demand, he typically produces his watercolor landscapes in a series of three or five paintings around a specific theme.
Tom’s art can be found internationally in many private and corporate collections, including commissioned paintings displayed in the Florida State Capitol Building, Walt Disney World Corporation, the Omni Corporation and Museums. Tom’s work has been featured in many books, magazine articles, posters and brochures.
Tom shares his passion for art and love of nature with students of varying skill levels through international workshops, demonstrations, instructional watercolor books and DVDs.
"Tom Jones is a painter who possesses such power that by dipping his brushes in colored water only he gives us the feeling of being before nature itself. Master of his craft, he obtains extremely difficult effects such as moving our soul at the sight of a beam of sunlight piercing through the foliage of the forest. That is magic; That is a great painter."
