Class Description (Limited to 14 students)

Do you struggle with composition, color, and other design decisions? Then this is the perfect class to help you learn how to solve visual problems and gain a solid understanding of the elements and principles of two-dimensional design. In class demonstrations, discussion and hands-on assignments will emphasize the design elements (color, value, line, texture, shape/form and space) and principles (balance, dominance/emphasis, harmony, variety, movement, scale/proportion, repetition/rhythm and unity) that are essential to the creation of effective use and understanding of color theory and composition. Projects will be completed in a sketchbook so by the end of the class you will have made a 2-design handbook that will serve as a guide and resource for your future studio practice. To get the most out of this class you will need to work on some homework assignments.
