Conny L.Dempsey is a Pastelista who enjoys creating intimate and thoughtful impressionistic paintings. Her subject matter ranges from animals, still life, children,seascapes and other nostalgia memories. Each painting is a slice of lifereflecting a moment in time.
She finds the process of applying the pastel to paper, blending and mark-making to be incredibly inspiring in producing the work of art and calming of the mind. She moved to pastels in 2014. Conny’s education includes a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts specializing in Visual Design/Photography with a minor in Art History from the University of Hawaii, and a Master’s of Art in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in Mo.
She has utilized her degrees throughout her career as an artist and counselor and enjoys helping others find beauty and answers that surround them. Conny was an awarding winning “Street Artist” for many years, exhibiting across the country in major street Art Shows. Using her camera, she captured images and impressions of Angels from old cemeteries and became known as the “Angel Lady”.
Conny believes Van Gogh said it best: “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul and paints his own nature into his pictures.” Reality to the artist isn’t always reality to the viewer but opens a new way of seeing the world.

“Introduction to pastels 101”

Dates: Thursdays - October 1, 8, 15, & 29, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Tuition Fee for 4 weeks with Credit Card: $150.00 members - $170.00 non-members
Tuition Fee for 4 weeks with Check/Cash: $145.00 members - $165.00 non-members
Cancellations must be made at least one week prior to the first day of class in order to receive a refund.
Classes are limited to 12 students.

Class Description:
A fun and exciting class to introduce the student to the bold, expressive colors of Soft Pastels. This is a Beginner's Class but all are welcomed. A variety of techniques and materials will be explored including hard and soft pastels. A sampling of various pastel papers will be available to get the student started. There is a Materials List. Come get your fingers dusty while creating a beautiful painting!
