Open Studio Description:

This 3-hour continuing open studio is designed for students who have previously completed one of my Sawubona beginner stained glass classes and are ready for more hands-on time.

Students may bring their own pattern or an in-progress piece to work on during class. Projects must be no larger than 11" x 11" to accommodate shared workspace. All standard tools and general glass will be provided.

If you have a specific glass type, color, or specialty material in mind for your project, please bring it with you.

This class is not a structured lesson, but guided support is available throughout. I’ll be on hand to answer questions, offer tips, troubleshoot challenges, and help refine technique as needed. It’s an opportunity to build confidence, work at your own pace, and deepen your skills in a supportive studio environment.

For additional questions please contact instructorPeter Berman at 386-214-1330 or peterberman1@gmail.com.

As an artist deeply inspired by my African heritage, my creative journey is shaped by my experiences growing up in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and living in Durban and Cape Town, South Africa, before relocating to the United States in the late 1970s. After a fulfilling career in the hotel industry, I retired to Daytona Beach, FL, where I now dedicate my time to my passion for stained glass and painting and have advocated for children in the foster care system as a Guardian ad Litem for over 11 years.

My wife, Rebekah, and I have embarked on incredible safari adventures across Africa, capturing the beauty of its wildlife in our stained glass and acrylic artwork. Each piece is a reflection of the majestic animals and breathtaking landscapes that continue to inspire us.

At Sawubona Art Works and Stained Glass, we offer:

  • Custom stained glass commissions tailored to your vision

  • Stained glass repair services to restore treasured pieces

  • Hands-on classes for beginners and intermediate enthusiasts

We invite you to explore our work and share in the beauty and craftsmanship of stained glass.

Let’s create something extraordinary together!
